111 Days to the Cove

Week #1 - March 29 thru April 4, 2009

“Should we be surprised if we are called upon to endure a little criticism, to make small sacrifice for our faith when our forebears paid so great a price for theirs? Without contention, without argument, without offense, let us pursue a steady course.” (President Gordon B. Hinckley)

  1. Why are you going on the trek? What do you want to learn? Do you think participating in the trek will change you? In what ways? Write your thoughts. Choose something that belongs to you that you care about and put it in a container with your written thoughts. Bury it. Plan on leaving it buried until you complete the trek. Those who went before us left many precious things including loved ones along the trail.
  2. Read and pray about the first vision. Think about the handcart members. How did the first vision impact them? Write your thoughts or share them with someone.
  3. Ask your parents or grandparents if you had relatives who came across the plains by wagon or handcart. Write down their names.
